Khatu Shyamji is considered the incarnation of Lord Krishna in the current age, known as Kalyug. In the Mahabharata, Bhima’s son was Ghatotkach, and Ghatotkach’s son was Barbarik. Barbarik is also called Baba Khatu Shyam. His mother’s name is Hidimba.

- Khatu Shyam Ji is said to be the birth or form of Barbarik who was a great Kshatriya in Mahabharata. Barbarik had the darshan to see a battle marooned on both sides — and thus despised himself to keep the balance right in war.
